Culver's restaurant coming to Northeast Ohio with Avon location

The chain is famous for its "ButterBurgers" and frozen custard.

Five Guys and Swensons are about to have some competition.

Culver's, famous for its ButterBurgers and fresh frozen custard, is set to open its first Northeast Ohio location in Avon next May, the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce announced Friday.

Culver's boasts more than 600 locations throughout across America, including 10 in Ohio, although the closest one to our area currently is in Findlay. According to the franchise's website, each "ButterBurger" is "served on a lightly buttered, toasted bun," with toppings including Wisconsin-made cheese.

Groundbreaking on the restaurant is set for Jan. 8.
