Man arrested month after deadly shooting in Lorain

LORAIN, Ohio — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Jeffrey Reed in Lorain, which happened last month in the 1000 block of West 45th Place.

Police say Marquis Smallwood was taken into custody around 9 a.m. Wednesday by members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force on a murder warrant.

He was taken to the Lorain County Jail for booking.

Reed died at the hospital from his injuries in the May 11 shooting.

Police say Smallwood, of Lorain, had also arrived at the hospital a short time later as a gunshot victim. He had been treated and released from the hospital.

The investigation continues into this incident. Police are asking anybody with information to call Detective Chris Colon at 440-204-2105.
