Police asking for help in identifying remains of boy found in Cleveland yard

The case stretches back to Sept. 20 where the remains were found near the yard of a vacant home on Longmead Avenue.

CLEVELAND -- Officials revealed new information on the remains of a child found in a west side yard several weeks ago.

The case stretches back to Sept. 20, where the remains were found in the backyard of a vacant home on Longmead Avenue.

Forensics confirmed that the remains are male, but the boy's ethnicity has not been determined. Experts estimate the boy was about four years old when he died.

The boy's remains were discovered in bags by landscapers. Forensic experts say the skeleton was almost fully intact, but a clear cause of death has not been determined.

Police believe the boy likely went missing in the early summer.

Now, authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying the boy. A sketch is pictured above. Anyone with information is asked to call Cleveland police.
