Ambulance carrying patient overturns after being struck by car in Lorain County intersection

The occupants of both vehicles were taken to Southwest General Hospital with minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a crash involving an ambulance in Columbia Township on Thursday evening. 

According to an OSHP release, a Valley City Ambulance was transporting a patient and going northbound on State Route 252 with its siren activated and overhead lights on. When it entered the intersection of Route 252 and Route 82 with a red traffic light, the ambulance was struck by a Nissan Sentra going westbound. 

The ambulance overturned and came to rest north of the intersection. The OSHP responded to a call at approximately 8:10 p.m.
