Cleveland Browns to celebrate 75th anniversary in 2021

The Cleveland Browns will celebrate the 75th anniversary of their franchise's formation in 2021.

CLEVELAND — As the Cleveland Browns continue to establish a new era, they'll also be looking to their past.

In 2021, the franchise will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its formation in 1946, the team announced on Friday.

“As we turn the page on the 2020 season, we’re back to work starting the next chapter for our 75th Anniversary,” Browns Executive Vice President J.W. Johnson said in a statement released by the team on Friday. “In coach’s words, it’s about the work, never being satisfied and we want more.”

 He went on to say, “The season was exciting, but the best is yet to come.” 

In the spirit of looking ahead while honoring their past, the Browns also released what it described as the core tenants of the franchise that were established during the 2020 season. Under the direction of first-year head coach Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland amassed its best regular-season record since 1994 at 11-5, earning its first postseason appearance since the 2002 season, and won its first playoff game in 26 years with a 48-37 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC wild card round.
