SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Although we are still sweating through summer’s sweltering grasp, Cedar Point is already conjuring up their putrid plans for fresh fright this fall.
When HalloWeekends kicks off Sept. 14, two new haunted experiences will be unearthed, which means one long-running scare zone has been laid to rest.
Here are highlights of the new haunted attractions for 2018:
- Trail of the Forsaken (outdoor scare zone on the Frontier Trail -- replaces Maniacal Mechanical Screamworks). Here’s what to expect, according to Cedar Point’s site: “The residents of FrontierTown are lurking down the trail turning into their worst phobias after bewitching practitioners have cast a spell upon the whole town. Seek refuge or you might become your own worst nightmare!”
- Hexed: Lights Out! (indoor haunted house near GateKeeper -- enhanced experience). Here’s what to expect, according to Cedar Point's site: “The witches of Hexed are toiling with trouble again… This time, they’re leaving you all alone in the dark! Navigate through their lair with a flashlight to avoid any mischief that might be brewing next.”
What else will be new for HalloWeekends? Park spokesperson Tony Clark isn't ready to reveal any additional details just yet.

Meanwhile, all other former haunted attractions will be returning for 2018. Here's the eerie lineup:
Indoor Mazes: Deprivation, Fearground Freakshow (as seen in the player above), G.A. Boeckling's Eerie Estate, Slaughter House and Zombie High School.
Outdoor Scare Zones: Blood on the Bayou, CornStalkers, Cut Throat Cove, Harvest Fear and Tombstone Terror-tory.
There’s also gobs of ghastly shows, including Midnight Syndicate Live, which you will find haunting the Jack Aldrich Theatre near the park’s main entrance. Other returning favorites are the gypsy fortune tellers, pumpkin spectacular and the parade.
2018 marks the 22nd year for HalloWeekends, which screams to life Friday, Sept. 14 and runs every weekend through Sunday, Oct. 28.
