Cleveland Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman arrested, charged with OVI

The Cleveland Cavaliers executive is being charged with committing a marked lanes violation and OVI.

CLEVELAND — Ohio State Highway Patrol officials have confirmed to 3News that Cleveland Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman was arrested on Friday night for impaired driving.

The incident happened on Friday at 8:53 p.m. when Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers saw a white 2022 Lexus committing a traffic violation on Route 2 near East 55th Street in Cleveland. 

Upon initiating a traffic stop, the driver, who has been identified as 41-year-old Altman, showed indicators of impairment. Altman was placed under arrest for OVI and was soon after offered a breath test, which he refused. 

Altman is being charged with committing a marked lanes violation and OVI. 

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials noted that "throughout the traffic stop, Altman was respectful and cooperative."  

The Cleveland Cavaliers released the following statement regarding his arrest: 

“We are aware of an incident involving Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman. We are currently gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”

In January 2022, Altman was named the President of Basketball Operations in addition to his role as general manager for the Cavaliers after signing a new long-term contract extension. The Brooklyn, New York native has been with the team since August 2012 when he joined as a pro personnel manager.
