The gala's theme is "Let's Finish It," which represents the organization's dedication to finalizing the garden's construction. Officials say that to date, $1.3 million has been raised of the $4 million necessary to complete the garden’s design.

“We are more than 1/3 the way of our fundraising goal and we are ready to take it over the finish line. Whether you donate $1 or $25,000, your contribution will serve to finally bring this beloved garden to life," said event organizers.

The event will feature an evening of cultural richness and celebration, including an opening reception, dinner, silent auction, student performances and local entertainment.

The African American Cultural Garden was established in 1926 in order to promote ethnic pride and intercultural understanding. Now, the African American Garden represents the African American experience.
