What to expect at the Cleveland National Air Show this weekend

Guests will get to see plenty of cool planes soaring through the skies over Burke Lakefront Airport, including the legendary Air Force Thunderbirds.

CLEVELAND — One of Northeast Ohio's premiere Labor Day weekend events is set to return, with the Cleveland National Air Show kicking off Saturday and flying on through Monday.

Guests will get to see plenty of cool planes soaring through the skies over Burke Lakefront Airport, including the legendary Air Force Thunderbirds. Some aircraft will even be available to tour on the ground.

Here's the schedule of what will take place each day:

9:30 a.m.-Noon

  • GEICO Skytypers Team – Giant Messages in Sky
  • Cleveland Aeromodeling Society – Radio Controlled Aircraft
  • U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team
  • Aerobatic Teaser
  • Dronewerx – Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Demonstration
  • Metro Life Flight Medical Helicopter Flyby
  • Civic Welcome Ceremony

Noon-2 p.m.

  • Shockwave Jet Truck
  • U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue Demo
  • U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt Tactical Demonstration
  • Julie Clark American Aerobatics
  • U.S. Air Force C-130 Demonstration
  • GEICO Skytypers Team - Formation Demonstration
  • U.S. Air Force F-35 Lightning Tactical Demonstration
  • U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight

2-4:30 p.m.

  • WWII B-25 “Yankee Warrior Fly-By with Wall of Fire
  • Mike Wiskus Lucas Oil Airshows
  • Shockwave Jet Truck
  • U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team
  • Photo Pass
  • U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds

In addition, there will be a special "heritage flight" featuring the F-35A Lightning II and World War II P-51 Mustang "Bum Steer." Besides getting to tour aircraft on the ground, there will also be a kids zone and plenty of cool exhibits.

General admission ticket prices are as follows (they can be purchased in advance here):

  • Ages 12+ - $25 ($23 in advance)
  • Ages 6-11 - $16 ($14 in advance)
  • Ages 5 & under - FREE

Reserved box seats cost $28, while tickets for the new "Flight Deck Loge" cost $120.
