Boston Mills ski resort prepares to celebrate 60th year in operation

Workers are already getting snow on the slopes, and guests on Friday can also take part in a special birthday party!

PENINSULA, Ohio — It's that time of the year again!

Boston Mills ski resort in Summit County is set to open for the season this Friday, and 3News' cameras already got a peek of workers preparing the snow on the slopes. The iconic venue is celebrating 60 years in operation, and at noon on Friday, guests can receive an exclusive anniversary pin and custom-made cupcakes from Giant Eagle Market District.

"60 years is an incredible milestone! It's amazing to think about how many guests and staff we have created great memories with for 60 years," Jake Campbell, General Manager at Boston Mills/Brandywine, said in a statement. "Our teams have worked incredibly hard to make this day possible. Our priority is continued terrain expansion safely, and we will continue to make snow at every opportunity this early season. We are continuing to focus on additional opening day details for Brandywine, Alpine Valley and the Polar Blast Tubing Park. That info will be shared as soon as possible."

As Campbell mentioned, an opening date for Brandywine has not yet been announced. Meanwhile, here are the weekend hours for Boston Mills, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day:

  • Friday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
