Faith Boone is here to tell us about the Effective Leadership Academy and Sarah Edelman is here to talk to us about the May Dugan Center. Both organizations help people learn the soft skills needed to have a successful career. But they’re aimed at different age groups.
Here are the questions Tiffany asked Faith and Sarah:
2. Faith: What will the TEGNA grant be used for?
3. And Sarah, your program at the May Dugan Center works with adults. Tell us where the center is located and what services you offer.
*Sarah’s Answer: *Everyone is welcomed no matter reading level, education level, or income level. We serve all people and are especially accessible for high barrier, low income, vulnerable people seeking to learn to read, obtain employment, and increase literacy. As a trauma informed education center students have a voice in their education plan. We encourage students to be in attendance as much as possible, but we do not have attendance requirements. We want our center to fit into the flow of their life. Students are not assigned a morning or evening session they choose what is best for them. Students have difficulties arise and no one is dropped. Rather, they can take a leave and return when they are able.
4. Sarah, how will you use the grant dollars?
