Karen Walsh, Sgt. Jim Mackey & Teresa Stafford – Community Conversation on Ending Human Trafficking

Ohio has one of the top five highest rates of human trafficking. It’s happening here, and it’s time to talk about how to end it.

January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Awareness month, and for over a decade the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking has been raising awareness of this crime and is working to develop a comprehensive and coordinated response to it in northeast Ohio. We had a conversation with Karen Walsh, President and CEO of the Collaborative, Teresa Stafford, Chief Advocacy Officer, of Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and Sgt. Jim Mackey, Director of the Cuyahoga Regional Human Trafficking Task Force.

Here are the questions Tiffany asked the group:

Karen, can you provide a Description of Human Trafficking?

Karen, what exactly is human trafficking? Can you describe to us exactly what it is and maybe address some warning signs of trafficking?

Teresa, Cleveland Rape Crisis Center assists survivors of all types of sexual assault, correct?  Can you tell me what CRCC is doing specifically about human trafficking?

Are you willing to be a part of the conversation to try and stop human trafficking? Find us on social media at ‘We the People’ and let us know!
