New technology has arrived in the makeup world.

On Monday, visual discovery platform Pinterest launched "Try On," a virtual way to try on lip stick shades from top makeup brands without going into a store.

But how does it work? Here's an easy rundown of the steps:

1. Download the Pinterest App

2. Open the Pinterest camera in search and click “Try on” to find different shades and in-stock products including a price that will appear right below.

3. or you can search keywords like “matte lipstick” or “red lips,”and a “try on” button will also appear on select products.

The best feature?  You can take a picture of yourself wearing the lipstick shades to see which you like best prior to buying them in-store or purchasing them online.
