CLEVELAND — If you've been on Instagram or TikTok you've probably seen them.
If not, then you're missing out on a front row seat to some of the best food and restaurants Northeast Ohio has to offer.
The social media queens of Cleveland's food scene, Bailey Purpura and Nikki Hannaway, started the account 'Crave CLE' back in 2018 and have been growing ever since.
"There's so many new places opening up," Hannaway said.
The idea popped up when the two co-workers and friends wanted to explore the city's food scene together and document it on Instagram.
"We loved the Cleveland food scene," Purpura said. "With both of us working in social media and PR, we thought why not start a fun Instagram account."
Their popularity was taken to a new level when they started posting on TikTok during the pandemic. Seeing the impact the pandemic had on restaurants, their love of Cleveland food added a new passion: Supporting local businesses.
"I really wanted to showcase the local businesses," Hannaway said. "This was a good way to do it and it's just grown since then."
Growing to more than 34,000 followers on TikTok, they've racked up hundreds of thousands of views on videos showcasing Northeast Ohio food.
