DENVER — "It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" won't be shown on broadcast television this year, but the classic Halloween special will be available for free this weekend.

Apple TV+ is making the Peanuts special available to watch for free on Saturday, Oct. 21, and Sunday, Oct. 22.

"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" first aired on CBS in 1966, then moved to ABC in 2001, where it had aired every year until 2020.

Apple acquired the "Peanuts" classics including "A Charlie Brown Christmas," "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," and "It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" in 2020. When Apple announced the specials would only be streamed, it sparked an outcry from fans.

However, those who don't have Apple TV+ subscriptions will still be able to watch each of the "Peanuts" specials for free for a limited time this holiday season.

"It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" will be available to watch for free on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22. "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" will also be found on Apple TV+ this year.

Apple TV+ is also free for a 7-day trial period, then it's $6.99 a month.  Apple TV+ subscribers can watch anytime.
