How you can help an adoptable dog get away from the shelter this holiday season

Trumbull Co. Dog Pound is seeking families with space who can temporarily take in a deserving dog to spend the holidays with them.

WARREN, Ohio — Just five days away from Christmas, but there's only a few days remaining to give a dog a chance to spend the holidays at home instead of a kennel.

Last week, we told you about three dogs who are some of the longer residents at Trumbull County's Dog Pound. They are Dixon, Infinity and Spot. And though staff and volunteers love all the pups that come their way, these dashing fellows are dear to their hearts.

And they're still looking for permanent homes!

While these dogs wait, Voices of Trumbull Pound Dogs, the nonprofit volunteer organization supporting the kennel, is launching a home for the holidays program.

If you can't adopt, this is another way you can make a difference: by giving a deserving dog a break from the kennel for the holidays.

It's for anyone who can open their home to one of the pound pups for Christmas through New Year's Day.

Want to participate? Applications are open right now, but the deadline is this Friday, Dec. 22.

A home for the holidays gives these dogs a much-needed break from shelter life for a bit, to decompress, unwind and a relax a bit.

You can apply HERE or contact the Trumbull County Dog Pound at  330-675-2787 for more information.
