2 men found dead in Garfield Heights home

Two men were found dead in a Garfield Heights home on Sunday.

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — Two men were found dead in a Garfield Heights home on Sunday in an incident that police are investigating as a homicide.

According to a report from the Garfield Heights Police Department, officers responded to a call to 13607 Christine Ave. regarding a call for a body found.

Upon arriving, officers spoke to the complainant, who said she found the man, who she identified as her father's friend, 89-year-old Morris Ramsey, stabbed with no signs of life upstairs. Officers proceeded to enter the home and found the complainant's mother to be sitting in a chair and "not very coherent."

Officers entered the basement in an attempt to check and clear it for any other possible person. Once downstairs, officers discovered another male, later identified as 88-year-old Alvin Hopes, lying on the bedroom floor with no signs of life, a gunshot wound to his head and a black revolver lying next to him.

Officers then went to the second floor, where they discovered Mr. Ramsey lying unresponsive on the floor at the foot of the bed with a small stab wound to the left side of his neck by his Adam's apple. A piece of a silver knife blade was found on the bed with blood stains on the sheets. The other part of the knife was found on a nightstand and some jewelry was laying on the floor with some picture frames that had been knocked over.
