ELYRIA, Ohio — A 21-year-old man has been arrested for a fatal shooting that killed a 24-year-old man at an Elyria apartment complex last October.

According to a release, Henry C. Spooner was arrested by Westlake Police on Wednesday following a traffic incident on Wednesday. Spooner was the passenger in a vehicle that had been struck in a three-car crash and was reported to have been attacking the driver of another truck that was involved.

Upon arriving, officers learned that Spooner had left the scene with a five-year-old child in tow. Upon being located at the BP Gas Station on Columbia and Detroit Rd., he claimed that he left the area because the child was cold.

Spooner was detained without further incident and the five-year-old was turned over to grandparents who had arrived shortly after. It was then found that a Lorain County Grand Jury previously indicted Spooner on the following counts following an investigation into the fatal shooting of Jordan Flanigan that took place at Midview Crossings Apartments (1864 Middle Ave.) on Oct. 27:

  • Murder
  • Felonious assault
  • Having weapons Under Disability
  • Tampering with Evidence
  • Improperly Handling Firearms in a Motor Vehicle

After being arrested, Spooner was transported to the Lorain County Jail, where he is currently being held on bond.

Authorities previously arrested 22-year-old Antwon Nathanuel President and a 15-year-old in connection with the shooting. Antwon Nathanuel President was charged with felony counts of Tampering with Evidence and Discharge of Firearm near Prohibited Premises, while the 15-year-old was charged with two second-degree felony counts of Felonious Assault. Both are Elyria residents.
