Akron police searching for suspect after armed robbery at McDonald's

AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after an armed robbery at a McDonald's in Akron.

Akron police say the incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 in the 900 block of East Waterloo Road. 

Upon arriving at McDonald's, officers spoke with an employee who reported that they were robbed at gunpoint. The employee told officers that a suspect approached the counter, pointed a gun at them and demanded money from the safe. 

The suspect allegedly fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Based on an initial investigation, Akron police say that the suspect hid in the restroom until closing before robbing the workers at gunpoint. 

At this time, detectives are working to gather more information and evidence in order to identify the suspect responsible for the robbery.
