The Amber Alert came after the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported a Black 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was taken from the Marshallville Dollar General with a juvenile in the back seat sleeping. That incident happened at around 2:11 p.m.

The alert, sent out at 2:46 p.m., lasted for roughly two hours. The truck was spotted on a Flock camera, leading to several law enforcement agencies converging on the Kenmore neighborhood in Akron.

Akron police tell Fischer that an officer saw the truck near East Avenue and Florida Avenue and found the boy safe. The suspect, who has not yet been named, was arrested about a half mile away from where the child was located.

"With the help of the (Ohio State) Highway Patrol, we were able to use their resources and tracked him back to the Akron area, the Kenmore area, and we have a resolution," said Marshallville Police Chief Thomas Rocker. "The child is unharmed and this is a good day."

Rocker added that the boy was "in great shape" after being checked out by first responders.

EDITOR'S NOTE: By request of the boy's family, we have removed his name and photo from this report.
