CANTON, Ohio — A raid conducted by multiple local and federal investigators in Canton resulted in the seizure of approximately 10 kilograms of the hallucinogenic drug Dimethyltryptamine, better known as DMT.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office's Metro Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at a home in Canton on Friday. They were joined by Homeland Security Investigations, the United States Postal Service, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Canton City Police Department Special Investigations Unit, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Sheriff's deputies say the search warrant was executed at a home in the 1600 block of St. Elmo Avenue NE following an investigation into drug trafficking stemming from the discovery of a shipment of drugs mailed to a Stark County address.

The 10 kilograms of DMT seized have a potential street value of over $1,000,000.

37-year-old Julian Barnett of Canton was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs (F1), and Aggravated Possession of Drugs (F1).

“Keeping Stark County safe is a collaborative effort and this is another example of the critical partnerships among law enforcement agencies,” said Sheriff George T. Maier in a statement. “We remain committed to ensuring these dangerous drugs are taken out of circulation and those responsible are held accountable.”
