Cleveland man sentenced to 10 years in prison for role in armed bank robbery

The robbery occured in June 2018 at a Citizen's Bank in Richmond Heights.

CLEVELAND — The U.S. Department of Justice has announced the sentencing of a Cleveland man to 10 years in federal prison for his part in a 2018 armed bank robbery.

Joseph Kyle Sanders, 20, was found guilty of entering a Citizen's Bank in Richmond Heights, threatening to shoot multiple employees in the head, and demanding employees fill a bag with money. Officials say Sanders made off with about $14,000.

Sanders' accomplice, 21-year-old Cleveland resident I'ziah Clark, had previously pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery and was sentenced to just over five and a half years in prison last month.

Sanders was found guilty in a similar crime after using a firearm in a robbery at a LoanMax in Cleveland Heights just 12 days after the Citizen's Bank robbery.
