Driver arrested after car chase resulting in head-on collision with UPS truck according to Garfield Heights police

The UPS driver was not injured in the crash. The suspect was taken to Metro Health Medical Center for "minor injuries".

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — An 19-year-old has been arrested after leading officers on a car chase through Garfield Heights and into the city of Cleveland Saturday morning.

According to the Garfield Heights Police Department, officers attempted to pull the suspect over for a traffic violation at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Warner Road near Garfield Boulevard.

The vehicle immediately fled from officers, crossing Garfield Heights city limits into Cleveland. Shortly after fleeing, the suspect crashed the vehicle head-on into a UPS delivery truck at Warner Road and Bancroft Avenue.

The suspect fled the scene of the crash on foot, but was apprehended by officers shortly after exiting the vehicle.

The UPS driver was not injured in the crash. The suspect was taken to Metro Health Medical Center for "minor injuries".

The suspect is currently under arrest for previous warrants according to Garfield Heights police. Charges from the above incident are currently pending.
