US Marshals capture Florida attempted murder suspect in Stark County

Cherie Goss is currently being held in the Stark County Jail while she awaits extradition back to the Fort Lauderdale region.

CANTON, Ohio — A woman wanted in Florida on charges of attempted murder was arrested Wednesday in Stark County, U.S. Marshals confirmed this afternoon.

Officials say 42-year-old Cherie Goss fled to Ohio after being charged in Broward County this past April. Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force tracked her whereabouts to the Canton area, and she was eventually captured somewhere within the 8800 block of Rue Helena Street Northeast in Louisville.

Goss is currently being held in the Stark County Jail while she awaits extradition back to the Fort Lauderdale region. Details regarding her alleged crimes were not disclosed.

"The strong relationships we have with our law enforcement partners made our community a safer place today," Stark County Sheriff George Maier said in a statement. "Without these partnerships and our dedicated officers, a dangerous fugitive would still be on the streets of Stark County. I hope this is the first step in providing justice for the victims in this case."
