MANSFIELD, Ohio — An investigation is underway after human remains were found inside of a Mansfield home.
Mansfield police say that on Monday, April 8, at around 5:18 p.m., they responded to the 200 block of West 3rd Street after electricians reported that they found a deceased person while working in a home.
Upon arriving at the scene, Mansfield police secured the residence and located human remains in the attic of the Richland County home.
Police say that the Richland County Coroner's Office responded and advised that Mercyhurst University's Forensic and Biological Anthropology Team be contacted to process the scene.
Investigators were expected to conduct their processing on Tuesday, April 9.
Officials noted that any additional details will be released after investigators gather more information.
