CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police remains at the scene of a fatal officer involved shooting Thursday afternoon.
An off-duty officer encountered two males, possibly involved in criminal activity near West 25th Street and Pearl Court around 2 p.m.
The two men, while inside of a car were involved in an incident with the officer. During the incident ,the 24-year-old driver pulled out a weapon resulting in the officer shooting the driver. The driver then crashed into a fence outside of Riverside Cemetery. The 17-year-old passenger fled the scene on foot.
The shooting victim was transported to MetroHealth Medical Centerin critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. The 17-year-old was taken into custody and transported to MetroHealth with unknown injuries.
Cleveland Police confirms no officers were injured in the incident.
