GALVESTON, Texas — Over the weekend, Charles Barkley threw shade at Galveston. A day later, Beyonce’s mom, Tina Knowles, threw it right back.
If you’re coming in cold, let's get you up to speed. Over the weekend, Barkley, a former NBA player and current TNT analyst, slammed both the New Orleans Pelicans and Galveston in a single rant. You see, it's become a tradition on the NBA on TNT that when a team is about to get eliminated (The Pelicans are now down 0-3 to Oklahoma City), the analysts say that team is about to go to Cancun ... meaning, they’re about to be on vacation. Get it?
But Barkley was so disgusted with the play of the Pelicans in their third straight playoff loss to the Thunder Saturday that he said the team didn’t deserve to go to Cancun. Instead of the popular resort town in Mexico, Barkley said they should go to Galveston, Texas with the “dirty a—water.” He went on and on about Galveston, while TNT crewmates Shaquille O'Neal, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson were cracking up. Knowles, who was born in Galveston, wasn’t having it. She shot a response back to Barkley the next day on Instagram, posting for her more than four million followers to see.
It reads, "Chuck we don't play about Galveston Texas ! You better watch it sucker! 😂😂Our water might not be blue , but it is still the beach and we love it! And Barkley’s response? He apologized to Knowles ... then went right back to slamming the Island!
But as much shade as he threw at Galveston, it turns out Barkley really is a fan. On Monday, when confronted with the past, he admitted he had a good time there. Then went on to trash the water.
