Forgot to shop?: How to outsmart the snow with these food delivery options

Food delivery services are going to be out and ready to go to make sure you get your food

Forgot the milk and bread?

Well, don’t worry because the winter storm won’t stop many restaurants and food delivery services from bringing the food and groceries to you.

“We’re prepared,” said Debbie Sanney, a manager at Athens Pizzeria.

Rain, sleet or snow, the 50-year-old pizza place has you covered.

Sanney tells WKYC the restaurant has never closed during a winter storm since it opened.

With heavy snow and cold temps expected this weekend for Northeast Ohio, she says delivery orders are likely going to double.

"[People] don't want to go outside in that snow. It's too cold,” she said. "These phones aren't going to quit ringing."

There are many options for food in the Cleveland area and you won’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home.

Giant Eagle’s curbside express and grocery delivery service will still be available despite the winter conditions.

“As always, the safety of our customers, team members and partners is paramount and during the storm we will do everything in our power to accommodate orders, but there is the potential for delivery orders to be delayed due to road conditions,” the store said in a statement.

The store also reminds people to schedule the delivery by 3:00 p.m. and give them at least a four hour advance notice.

Also, select Walmart stores will let you order your groceries and pick it up. A representative for the store tells WKYC the service will be provided on a store by store basis, depending on the weather conditions.

Food delivery services are going to be out and ready to go to make sure you get your food as well.  One local food delivery service called Deliver Me Food says business will be booming. The company, which was established in 1996, says it will have 30 drivers on deck.

For places like Deliver Me Food, Uber Eats and Grub Hub, you should expect delays because of the potential dangerous road conditions. Also, prepare to pay a little bit more on the delivery fee.

If you want to go to a friend’s house or for a drink, Uber and Lyft will be available. The fee could be more, but it’s probably better than driving your own car in the snow.

You can drive to one of your favorite food places, but why do that when it’s a lot easier to just dial a number.
