COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine, Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, and Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton held a press conference on Tuesday with the latest on the state's response to COVID-19.
DeWine announced that the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (OJFS) received approval from the United States Department of Agriculture for its Pandemic EBT plan.
The approval will allow for the distribution of SNAP benefits to 850,000 students across Ohio who relied on free or reduced-price meal programs when school was in session. Families will receive approximately $300 to purchase healthy and nutritious foods to feed their children.
Husted announced that tattoo, piercing and massage businesses, which have been closed since mid-March, have been given permission to reopen on May 15.
DeWine added that he hopes to make an announcement on reopening swimming pools and summer activities at his next briefing on Thursday.

According to the Ohio Department of Health, there are more than 25,000 confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus in the state. 1,436 have died.
