Lake Metropark Farmparks closed until further notice to stop the spread of COVID-19

The move comes as Coronavirus cases within the state continue to rise.

KIRTLAND, Ohio — The Lake Metropark Farmpark is closing until further notice to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in Ohio.

The Northeast Ohio institution made the announcement on Monday, stating that the decision did not come lightly but that they believe it is the right thing to do.

The County Lights Drive-Thru will still go on as scheduled, and tickets and event information can be found here

According to an email, memberships to the farmpark that were purchased for this year will be extended to account for the period of time that they are shut down. New membership sales have been halted for the time being.

All shelter and cabin rentals will be honored through November 30.

Lake Metroparks will still keep several attractions across Northeast Ohio open for visitors, including:

  • Parks and trails
  • Playgrounds
  • Nature Play at Penitentiary Glen Reservation
  • Pine Ridge Country Club (open with COVID-19 protocols)
  • Erie Shore Golf Course (open with COVID-19 protocols)
  • Lake Erie Bluffs obseration tower
  • The pier at Painseville Township park
  • Canine Meadow Dog Park
  • Hidden Lake's archery range
  • Shelters, on a first-come-first-serve basis

Currently, shelters and group gatherings held at any of the Lake Metroparks must adhere to current COVID-19 protocols within the state of Ohio, including no more than 10 people to a table, no self-serve style buffets, and socially-distanced picnic tables.

The Metroparks will keep bathrooms open for emergency use only.
