University Hospitals opening new urgent care care locations in Lakewood and Willoughby

The new Willoughby location replaces UH Urgent Care Willowick, which will be moved from 29804 Lakeshore Blvd.

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — In what’s described as “part of the larger plan to deliver health care closer to wear patients live, shop and work,” University Hospitals announced the opening of a new urgent care and relocation of another.

Here's where you will find these new locations...

  • UH Urgent Care Lakewood West: This location opened Oct. 23 at 14800 Madison Ave.
  • UH Urgent Care Willoughby: This location will open Oct. 30 at 36001 Euclid Ave.

“The new facilities will be equipped with advanced medical technology and staffed by experienced healthcare professionals dedicated to providing compassionate, efficient and personalized care to patients of all ages,” according to UH officials.

The Willoughby location replaces UH Urgent Care Willowick, which will be moved from 29804 Lakeshore Blvd. by the end of the day Saturday, Oct. 28.

“The new UH Urgent Care Willoughby, located directly across the street from UH Lake West Medical Center, will increase convenient access to high-quality health care services in a consolidated location,” officials said. “Patients who come to the UH Urgent Care Willoughby with extreme symptoms like chest pain or severe shortness of breath can quickly be redirected right across the street to the emergency department of the hospital.”

Then, starting on Nov. 1, all UH Urgent Care facilities -- including both new locations -- will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week with special hours for some holidays.

“Our UH Urgent Care delivery model aims to provide the most convenient and valuable care for our patients,” explained UH Chief Operating Officer Paul Hinchey, MD, MBA. “Having easy access to urgent care locations provide a more affordable option than emergency departments for patients who don’t have a primary care physician but need immediate, non-life-threating medical attention. By offering more urgent care locations, we can relieve the burden on emergency departments and reduce wait times so our emergency medicine teams can focus on critical cases.”
