43-year-old man killed in Akron shooting

The shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of West Waterloo Road.

AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a 43-year-old man died following a shooting in Akron. 

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office says it happened around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of West Waterloo Road.

When authorities arrived at the scene, the victim was found on the ground near a shed with a gunshot wound to the torso.

"Officers provided the victim, who was conscious and breathing at the time, emergency first aid until EMS arrived," said Akron police in a release.

Officials say that the victim was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead at 1:25 a.m.

The victim has been identified as Bryan Lee McNeil of Akron.

Akron police say that evidence from the crime scene was recovered and that detectives are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting. 

At this time, there are no known suspects, according to police.
