However, occupants of Sandy Beach have come across a disturbing trap set for these community cats by an unknown person. Recently, over 50 bowls of what was described as an anti-freeze looking substance were found scattered throughout the property.

Resident Larry Stall spoke with 3News about the recent finding, and as a dog lover himself, he said he was horrified upon learning of the poisonous plot against the felines, "I would like to tell them how would you like to get poisoned or trapped somewhere where you have no way to get out of it or succeed? That's wrong."

Stall says animal rescue operations have taken place before at Sandy Beach to help control the cat population within the mobile home park, but it was always conducted in humane ways, "'TNR' is Trap-Neuter-Return. We trap them, get them spayed or neutered, we give them vaccines, we give the flea medicine. Then we return them to the park and owners."

Cameron Kennedy from The Humane Bean Rescue also spoke with 3News, "We started doing TNR a few weeks ago in this park. On Wednesday we had done 21 cats, raised over $2,000 from donors. We contacted the park owner and told her what we were doing. We told them we were going to be bringing the cats back. Two days after that, we found over 50 bowls of what looked like antifreeze distributed around the park. We picked up all the bowls we could find and we've been monitoring the cats."

According to Ohio Law, animal cruelty is a fifth degree felony, and residents hope whoever is setting these traps for the community cats is brought to justice.

Stall continued with a warning to the person or persons responsible for setting the bowls out for the cats, "You better stop that, if I catch you you better watch out."
