Akron Police Department: 1 dead, 2 injured after shooting early Sunday morning

Police say they are currently working to identify the shooter.

AKRON, Ohio — A man is dead and two others injured after a shooting in Akron overnight.

According to Akron police, officers responded to calls of a shooting that took place on the 800 block of Johnson Street at approximately 2:20 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old man on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers attempted to give the man emergency aid until EMS arrived to the scene.

While officers were at the scene of the shooting, they were notified that two 30-year-old men checked themselves into Summa Health Akron City Hospital. Both men were treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The names of all three victims have not been released at this time.

According to a initial investigation, Akron detectives believe that a card drove by a building where all three victims were standing outside. An occupant inside of the vehicle fired multiple shots at the victims, striking all three.

Detectives are currently working to identify the shooter and anyone else involved in the incident.

The shooting remains under investigation.
