AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after Akron police responded to multiple robberies on Tuesday.

Akron police officials say it was around 11:45 a.m., when officers assisted the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force after they observed four male suspects struggling to load "something large and heavy in the back seat of a vehicle parked nearby."

After witnessing the suspicious activity, officials approached the suspects, who immediately took off running. Officers say they recovered a safe full of guns and other stolen property in the backseat of the abandoned vehicle.

Police say that they determined the safe full of guns was stolen from a house in the 600 block of Payne Avenue.

Nearly 15 minutes later, a 21-year-old man told police he was carjacked at gunpoint at a store parking lot in the 300 block of Storer Avenue. The victim told police that three males approached him, including one armed with an AR-15-style rifle. The suspects then demanded his 2013 Dodge Charger and drove off with it. Later on, the vehicle was recovered on Payne Avenue.

Police say that no arrests have been made in connection to these incidents.
