“Creating and maintaining fun, safe, accessible public spaces is necessary for any community to thrive,” said Mayor Horrigan. “The upgrades at both Ed Davis Community Center and Perkins Pool will revitalize these spaces for our residents to enjoy for years to come. By taking the community’s thoughts, feedback, and ideas into account during the planning process, we’ve ensured that these spaces will meet the community’s needs and wants.”

According to the City of Akron, the initial costs to upgrade both locations are estimated to be $5.5 million for the Perkins Pool and $9.4 million for the community center.

The City of Akron is allowing for further input from the public who want to give their input on what should be included in these upgrades.  A community engagement open house will be held at the Ed Davis Community Center on Thursday, August 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. where city officials and architects will be on hand to answer questions about the upgrades.

A vote will also be held on two exterior design options for the community center.
