AKRON, Ohio — A woman was killed Saturday night in a motorcycle crash, Akron police said in a news release.

It happened just after 6:30 p.m. on Wilbeth Road.

Police say a Saturn VUE was traveling eastbound when it attempted a left turn onto 19th Street SW. That's when a motorcycle tried to pass on the left side and hit the Saturn.

Both the man who was driving the motorcycle and the woman who was riding as a passenger were thrown from the vehicle.

Investigators say the 35-year-old driver walked away from the crash scene before police got there.

A witness to the crash drove the injured woman to Barberton Hospital where she later died, police said.

The driver of the Saturn was not hurt.

While the crash remains under investigation, police said it appears reckless driving was a factor in the accident.
