1 dead after 3-vehicle crash in East Canton

Denise Decker, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Stark County Coroner.

EAST CANTON, Ohio — A 52-year-old woman is dead after a fatal car crash on State Route (SR) 172 in Stark County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Monday, near milepost 21 on SR 172 in Osnaburg Township. A total of three cars were involved in the crash including a Chevrolet van operated by 26-year-old William Eyer V of Minerva, a Dodge van operated by 35-year-old Scott Henning of Minerva and a Jeep station wagon operated by 52-year-old Denise Decker of East Canton. 

An initial investigation of the crash was conducted and revealed that the Chevy van was stopped in eastbound traffic when the Dodge van rear-ended the Chevy van. The Chevy van was pushed left of center into oncoming traffic, striking the Jeep station wagon that was travelling westbound. The Dodge van came to a final rest off the right side of the roadway.

Decker, driver of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Stark County Coroner.

No additional information has been released on the condition of the other drivers. Denise Decker and Scott Henning were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
