A Cleveland woman has been indicted by a grand jury for hitting and killing two Lakewood teenagers in a February crash.

According to court documents, Selena Colon, 23, has been indicted on four counts of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, as well as one count of Driving Under the Influence for the Feb. 21 crash in which Maximus Close and Alejandro Mercado, both 19, were killed.

“Ms. Colon was drunk-driving over 90 mph in a 35 mph zone. This resulted in the death of two wonderful friends and their families left in total anguish,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. “She will be held accountable.”

According to officials, Colon was driving on Clifton Avenue in Lakewood the night of the accident, when she crashed into the victims’ car as they were making a turn. The crash split the victims' vehicle in half, ejected them from the car, immediately killing the two teens, and injuring a third, un-named, victim.

"The investigation revealed that Colon was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, did not have her headlights on, and was driving at speeds that exceeded 90 miles per hour just before impact," Prosecutor O'Malley said in a press release.

Colon will be arraigned at a later date.
