City of Cleveland Fire Department looking for female recruits

There is an application deadline of August 20. Online testing begins Aug. 3 through Sept. 2, and applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and pass the Civil Service Exam.

Starting salary while in the Fire Training Academy is $15 per hour. Upon successful completion of the Academy the salary for a firefighter is $53,592.10 per year.

In general, the city of Cleveland benefit options include comprehensive medical, dental, vision, prescription medical and life insurance. Those who are veterans get an additional five points added to the raw score on the exam.

The application and exam is to create an eligible list of candidates to invite to the Fire Academy.

Physical abilities testing will occur after the candidate is approved. This is a pass/fail test designed to evaluate the physical abilities needed to perform duties as a firefighter.
