CLEVELAND — We all know that the holiday season is the time for us to be merry and bright. But that's not always possible! Hectic schedules, last-minute shopping and road trips near and far can cause aggressive driving.

With that in mind, GasBuddy has put together a list of "The Top 10 Cities with The Most Aggressive Holiday Drivers."  And guess what? Cleveland isn't on it.

Quite the opposite.

GasBuddy actually determined that Cleveland is one of the Top 10 cities with the LEAST aggressive holiday drivers.

In its study, GasBuddy examined millions of drivers during the 2022 Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The study showed that Tucson, Arizona and Portland, Oregon were the cities with the most and least aggressive holiday drivers, respectively.

Aggressive driving habits are classified as quick acceleration, hard braking and speeding.

Here's how the rankings turned out. First, here's the "naughty list" of the cities with the most aggressive holiday drivers:

  1. Tucson, AZ
  2. Jacksonville, FL
  3. Nashville, TN
  4. Orlando, FL
  5. Birmingham, AL
  6. Richmond, VA
  7. Oklahoma City, OK
  8. Tampa-St. Petersburg, FL
  9. Salt Lake City, UT
  10. Memphis, TN

Cleveland is joined by Columbus and Cincinnati on the "nice" list of the cities with the least aggressive holiday drivers:

  1. Portland, OR
  2. Cincinnati, OH
  3. Seattle, WA
  4. Las Vegas, NV
  5. Rochester, NY
  6. Providence, RI
  7. Minneapolis, MN
  8. Cleveland, OH
  9. Columbus, OH
  10. Buffalo, NY

“The holidays can bring out both the best and worst of us, trying to run around to get everything done and prepared before the holidays, coupled with high prices and increased traffic, we see shorter fuses on the road and more stress contribute to wasting money,” Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, said in a news release.

“In addition to the safety element, driving aggressively and rushing around bites into consumer wallets by reducing fuel efficiency. As 2022 has brought some of the highest gas prices ever seen, taking a deep breath and slowing down while driving can improve drivers’ gas mileage up to 25%, meaning safe drivers will have extra savings on hand to spend during the holiday season," De Haan added.
