WATCH: Cleveland police chase horses on I-90

Cleveland police told 3News that the horses escaped during routine care and exercise.

CLEVELAND — There was a new kind of horsepower on Interstate 90 in Cleveland on Saturday. 

Video from an Ohio Department of Transportation traffic camera shows the moment when Cleveland police officers were chasing down two horses on the Shoreway. Officials told 3News that during routine care and exercise, two Cleveland police horses escaped.

Vehicles on I-90 had to come to a complete stop after the two horses got loose on the roadway. 

"Mounted officers promptly recovered both horses, ensuring their safety, and no further incidents ensued," said Cleveland police. 

In the footage, the two — known as Jim and Larry — could be seen galloping back to the stable. On Monday, they seemed to be planning their next getaway outsmarting a fence that had been here for decades. and trotting by this crime reporter with no fear

While Cleveland police would not talk about the two horses and their escapade, we do know they got out of a back fence, and it's no coincidence a new fence went up today. The new structure is shiny and clean with "No trespassing" signs, but for Jim and Larry, no fence will keep them from a walk about
