Frontier Airlines announces new nonstop flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica from Cleveland Hopkins Airport

This announcement comes after Frontier Airlines revealed plans last month to expand operations at Cleveland Hopkins with a new crew base in March of 2024.

CLEVELAND — Need a vacation to a tropical destination?

Frontier Airlines has announced a new nonstop service from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Frontier Airlines spokesperson Michael Konopasek revealed the new route during a press conference on Thursday.

“This is an exciting milestone for Frontier and Cleveland as we expand our operation to offer service to a new international destination for CLE— Jamaica,” said Josh Flyr, vice president, network and operations design, Frontier Airlines. “Montego Bay is rich in history and offers a stunning array of beaches, along with a multitude of fun in the sun activities. Getting there is now easy and affordable thanks to Frontier’s ‘Low Fares Done Right.’”

The new route will launch in March 2024, with fares beginning at $159. Flights on Frontier can be booked through Aug. 12, 2024.

“Cleveland has not had nonstop service to Montego Bay since 2017,” said Director of Port Control Bryant L. Francis, C.M. “We are thrilled that Frontier has chosen to add this service to its growing roster of nonstop routes at Hopkins, restoring a popular link connecting Northeast Ohio to the rich history and culture of Jamaica.”

The airline says it will be the only carrier offering nonstop service to Montego Bay from CLE.

This announcement comes after Frontier Airlines revealed plans last month to expand operations at Cleveland Hopkins with a new crew base in March of 2024. The plan is expected to employ up to 110 pilots, 250 flight attendants and 50 aircraft maintenance personnel within the first year.

“Combined with airport positions, the airline is expected to generate nearly $80 million annually in local wages with further growth anticipated in the coming years,” according to a press release from Frontier Airlines.

They are now recruiting for flight attendant positions with an anticipated hiring event in Cleveland this January. Interested in a job? You can apply HERE.

“The City of Cleveland and the entire region will benefit from this announcement and the many layers of value that come with a new crew base,” Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb said after last week’s crew base plans were revealed. “We are grateful for the confidence Frontier has in the Cleveland market and for the economic boost that will follow from this investment.”
