Gas leak closes East 105th Street in Cleveland between Euclid Avenue and Chester Avenue

CLEVELAND — A gas leak has closed East 105th Street in Cleveland between Euclid Avenue and Chester Avenue.

Cleveland Fire told 3News that the gas leak has since been shut down.

The leak happened on Thursday morning after a construction crew digging in the parking lot behind the American Cancer Society Building hit a four-inch gas line. 

Fire officials said that they could hear gas hissing out. As a result, employees from the American Cancer Society building were evacuated. 

Cleveland fire officials also told 3News that there was no fire/explosion or injuries reported. 

Cleveland Clinic released the following statement to 3News regarding the gas leak: 

'We're aware of a gas leak on East 105 and Euclid, but it's not impacting our operations and we are not evacuating any buildings.'
