CLEVELAND — A U.S. Marshals officer was taken to the hospital after being allegedly assaulted while serving an arrest warrant in Cleveland.
The incident happened on Thursday morning in the 2100 block of West 104th Street when U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force members went to serve a warrant for 19-year-old Malik Shabazz.
When the U.S. Marshals arrived at the home, they encountered another individual, who was detained at the door while being interviewed. The unidentified person allegedly assaulted one of the members of the U.S. Marshals.
"The member of the task force is being treated at the hospital for injuries and the suspect was taken into custody at the scene," said the U.S. Marshals in a press release.
The U.S. Attorney's Office is currently reviewing charges against the suspect.
Shabazz, the original suspect, is wanted from Syracuse, New York, for burglary/display of a firearm, robbery, assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon and criminal use of a firearm.
Below is a picture of the original suspect, Shabazz, who was not arrested at the home and is still wanted by police. Shabazz has brown hair and brown eyes and weighs 250 pounds.
