CLEVELAND — The Veterans Affairs Northeast Ohio Healthcare System announced on Friday that it will award four grants to different community organizations that are worth approximately $7.3 million. They are doing so under the Grant and Per Diem program.

These grants are going to be handed out to support capital improvements to existing Grant and Per Diem Program transitional housing facilities. These facilities are in place to help vulnerable veterans find stability in their residence as well as improve their skill levels, increase their income and obtain greater self-determination.

The program gives funding to community organizations that give transitional housing and supportive services to veterans who are experiencing homelessness.

“We are very excited to receive and disperse this funding,” said Assistant Chief for Social Work, Cynthia Moore, MSSA, LISW-S. “Ensuring veterans have access to safe and adequate living quarters is an important step to lift them out of homelessness and into a journey of stability, health and well-being.”

The focus of the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is to focus on treating the veteran through health promotion and disease prevention. Comprehensive, seamless health care and social services are provided for nearly 111,000 veterans across Northeast Ohio.
