17-year-old shot in Maple Heights, high school placed on lockdown

The lockdown at Maple Heights High School was lifted at 4:10 p.m. after officers determined that the school was no longer in danger.

MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 17-year-old male was shot in Maple Heights Wednesday afternoon leading to Maple Heights High School being placed on lockdown.

A approximately 3:20 p.m., reports of several gun shots in the area of Clement Avenue and Mapleboro Avenue were reported to the Maple Heights Police Department.

As a precaution, Maple Heights High School was immediately placed on lockdown while officers investigated. A short time later, a 17-year-old was located in the area with a gunshot wound to his left hip.

He was transported to Metro Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The lockdown at Maple Heights High School was lifted at 4:10 p.m. after officers determined that the school was no longer in danger.
