Cuyahoga Trump headquarters busy before official opening

Donald Trump's Cuyahoga County campaign headquarters is already attracting volunteers and supporters, even though it's not officially open.

MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS -- Retired truck driver Jerry Reye has always voted Democrat.

But he is among those voters deciding that Democrats and ordinary Republicans are not solving any of the countries important problems and it's time for a drastic change.

He is backing Donald Trump, hoping to restore America's respect.

"People put us down. And what do we do? Apologize. I'm tired of that. I'm a veteran too, I believe what he says," Reye explained.

Reye is among a parade of Trump supporters who have found their way to the Cuyahoga County Trump headquarters in an old candy store in Middleburg Heights.

Ralph King is a prospective Trump delegate and Cuyahoga County campaign co-chair.

He, too, is frustrated with both parties' stranglehold on government and inability to solve problems.

"I think they are one and the same and looking out for their best interests and we need someone looking out for the people's best interest," he said.

He is willing to overlook Trump's racial slights, rude comments and so-called un-presidential behavior.

He does not believe Trump will be able to do all that he promised.

"If he does 50 percent of what he says he'll do, we'll be in a much better position," he said.

"Is he saying it with kid gloves? No. But we need to be forceful to break the stranglehold those politicians have on our country...If people did not like what he is saying, he would not have made it this far.," he said.

He says Trump's camp will not take it lying down if convention rules are jockeyed to thwart Trump.

"If they change that after the American public has spoken, I think they do that at their own risk and their own peril," King warned

King predicts Trump will beat Governor John Kasich in Ohio's primary.

And from early indications, a lot of avid Trump volunteers are ready to help that happen here.
