North Ridgeville home completely destroyed following fire

Crews managed to get the blaze under control by 7:30 p.m. Saturday, but the house was a total loss.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio — Crews from multiple departments made their way to North Ridgeville for a massive house fire Saturday evening.

Officials say the first calls came in around 5:40 p.m., with firefighters then quickly descending on the 5300 block of Barton Road. The home was completely engulfed in flames along with at least one vehicle, but workers were able to get the situation under control within two hours and are now attempting to put out hot sports.

The house itself was completely destroyed. Three people inside as well as multiple dogs were able to make it out safely, but it is unknown at this time of at least two cats are also okay.

North Ridgeville Fire Chief John Reese told 3News his team would've been able to put the fire out sooner had it not been for nearby power lines going down. The electric provider had to turn services off before things could proceed safely.

This is a developing story. Please stay with 3News for updates as they become available.
