LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Police here are looking for two men who are suspected in the assault of a woman, 85, in her own apartment just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police responded to Westerly Apartments, 14312 Detroit Ave., on the report of an 85-year-old woman being sexually assaulted.

It was reported that two white men in their 20s with long black hair knocked on the apartment door and identified themselves as maintenance.

The resident opened the door and was led to another room where she was assaulted by one man as the other man waited in another room.

Nothing was removed from the apartment, and the men left. The resident was taken to Fairview Hospital's emergency room, where an exam was conducted. Police say she did not suffer any visible injuries.

Police say that the building is a secured-access apartment building for primarily elderly residents. Security tapes have been obtained and reviewed, along with key card access reports, without any suspects being identified in the building.

Other residents on the floor, while awake when this occurred, did not report hearing or seeing anything out of the ordinary.

Evidence collected from Fairview Hospital has been taken to the Cuyahoga County medical examiner's office for forensic testing.

Lakewood police request anyone with information about this contact the Lakewood Detective Bureau at (216) 529-6777.

Westerly Apartments released a statement saying the company is working with Lakewood police and has hired a security guard who will work starting immediately.

"We are deeply concerned and are doing everything we can to help detectives in their investigation," said Curt Brosky, president and CEO of Lakewood Senior Citizens Inc.

According to the statement, security is a priority at the three-building campus, which is home to 500 elderly residents.
